Cards (26)
three
days before
armistice Sunday
spasms of paper red disrupting a blockade of
yellow
around your
blazer
Sellotape bandaged
around my
hand
steeled the
softening
of my
face
before you
left
i
resisted
the
impulse
to
run
my
fingers
through the
gelled blackthorns
of your
hair
the world
overflowing
like a
treasure chest
a
spilt second
and you were away.
Intoxicated
relased
a
song bird
from its
cage
... a
single dove flew
from the
pear tree
the effect of
war
how
war
effects families
mother and
son
roles and relationships
conflicting
parental
role
war
and
peace
poppies
and remains talk about memories
kamikaze
and poppies powerlessness and loss because of
conflict
poppies and war photographer
show the trauma and effect of war on individuals
threw it open the world
overflowing
like a
treasure chest
all my words
flattened
rolled turned into felt
slowly
melting away
spasms of paper
red
disrupting a blockade of
yellow bias binding
around your
blazer
blackthorns
of your
hair
three
days before
armistice sunday
... before you
left
playground
voice catching
on in the wind
reaching the
top
of the
hill
the
dove
pulled
freely
against the
sky
