  • Shih shi - ess the dominant chinese poetic form from the second through 12th century. It ks characterized by:
    1. Even number of lines
    2. Same number of words in each kine is most cases, 5 or 7
    3. The occurence if rhymes at the end of the even numbered lines
    It involves use of pararelllism. Has couplets thay are similar in structure and meaning.
  • Sao - inspired by Li Sao or encountering sorrow and is unusually long
  • Chu Yuan - first known great poet of china
  • Fu - poem partially expository and partly distinctive involving a single thought or sentiment usually expressed in a reflective manner.
  • Lu-Shih - also known as regulation poetry. Octave consisting of 5 or 7 syllable verses eith a definite rhyming scheme and all even lines rhyming together and the presence of Caesura in every line. First 4 lines is Ching, (Scene in english) while remaining 4 lines describe Ch'ing (emotion).
  • Chueh-Chu - also known as prunceated poetry shorter version of Lu Shih. It contains 4 lines within 20 or 28 syllables or characters were vivid pictures of natural beauty.
  • Tzu - it is not governed by a fixed number of verse nor a fix number of characters per verse. Its lyrics were sung to the tunes of popular melodies.
