Nausicaa is a potential threat to Odysseus' story - temptation (younger Penelope) - what if he stays? Athene shows a lot of trust in Odysseus - he could just give up and stay with Nausicaa.
"Mountain lion" - predatory imagery/metaphor - attractive masculine trait in the eyes of the ancient Greeks
"She checked herself and confronted him" - a bit of a masculine trait (masculinity in the ancient world meant being courageous, brave, and strong, but to the extreme, usually) - makes her a bit more extraordinary.
Odysseus anticipates reactions - deliberating, cunning presented by seeing it in action.
