3.1 Kinematics in 2 Dimensions: An introduction

• general characteristics of Vectors: distance can be more then displacement
• Two-dimensional motion's path of an object are represented with 3 vectors: straight line path vector (vertical + horizontal vector), vertical vector, and horizontal vector
• The third vector is the straight-line path between two points.
• Any motion in the horizontal direction does not affect motion in the vertical direction (components of two-dimensional motion are independent to each other)
• Projectile Motion - two independent one-dimensional motions (horizontal and vertical)
• To solve projectile motion problems, break it into vertical and horizontal motions
