  • Lay the casualty down to prevent/treat shock
  • If the casualty has an head injury slightly raise the head and shoulders
• What are the key points to remember when dressing the wound?

  • If blood comes through the dressing, remove and reapply pressure with a new dressing or pad to control the bleeding
  • make sure the dressing doesn't restrict the blood flow
  • Once bleeding is under control, secure in place with the bandage, tying the knot over the wound to keep the pressure on.
  • Support the injured area in a raised position
