• What are the stages to treating a minor bleed?

  • If dirty, clean the wound under running water
  • Pat dry using sterile materials ie gauze
  • Cover the wound completely with a sterile material
  • Support the injured area
  • Clean surrounding area, remove wound covering and apply sterile dressing to the wound
  • Advise the casualty to see their doctor if special risk of infection or any other concerns
