    • competition in schools prepare students for a smooth entry into a meritocratic society in which people compete over jobs, material possessions and status

    • schools place emphasis on blind obedience, hierarchy and the rules and regulation we must follow
    • this teaches pupils to blindly accept the control that the workplace, government and law will have over them in later life
