• Software is the program that controls the computer system
• Application software is the program that allows the user to do specific tasks
• System software is a program that allows the hardware to run properly and allows the user to communicate
• Application and System are the two types of software
• There are examples of Application software such as word processor, spreadsheet, database, and more
• There are examples of System software such as compiler, linker, BIOS, and more
• BIOS stands for Basic input/output system
• BIOS carries out a hardware check to find out if all the devices are present and they are functional when the computer is powered on
• CMOS stands for Complementary metal oxide semiconductor
• CMOS is the semiconductor technology that is used in most of today’s ICs also known as chips or microchips
• OS stands for Operating system
• Operating systems (OS) manage the resources of computers and allocate them to programs running on it.
• CLI is an interface that requires the user to type in instructions to choose the options from the menu, open software, etc. If the user misspells or mistakes the command, the system doesn’t work and they need to remember all the commands
• GUI allows the user to interact with a computer using pictures or icons rather than typing the commands.
• GUI is stand for Graphic user interface
• CUL is stands for Command line interface
