Permanent and induced magnets

• Is it true that all metals are magnetic?

  -FALSE not all metals are magnetic
• When a magnetic material comes into contact with a magnet what occurs?


  -An attraction force occurs and the magnetic material becomes induced and basically becomes a magnet with its own magnetic field.
• TRUE OR FALSE: Once an object becomes induced it stays induced?

  -FALSE if the magnetic material leaves the magnetic field it does not stay as an induced magnet and loses its magnetism.
• What happens to soft magnetic materials and hard magnetic materials after losing their magnet inducing them?

  -Soft magnetic materials lose their induced state faster than harder materials. This is why soft materials such as iron is used to make temporary magnets
• How would you test a material to see if its magnetic?

  -Put it next to a permanent magnet and see if it becomes induced
