Bleaching properties of So2

Cards (3)

  • Chemical reactions:
    • Helt NAOH → Nace + 4₂0
    • Oxidising agent reactions:
    • Son + Fe → Fes + FeO
    • HI + 5O₂ → 2I₂0 + In its → +Imm
    • 2H1† SO₂ -> 1₂ ts 24₂0 60%
  • Bleaching Property of SO₂:
    • SO₂ can bleach wool, paper, flower, hair, silk, etc., in the presence of moisture to produce nascent hydrogen
    • SO₂ + H₂OH₂S on F[H]colouring matter + [H] → Colourless substance
    • The bleaching of SO₂ is not permanent; the substance regains its original color
  • Sulfur dioxide has been shown to have antibacterial activity against certain bacteria such as Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Salmonella typhimurium, and Listeria monocytogenes.
