  • ANALYSIS is giving more detail (explanation). Analysis questions usually start with "What?, When?, Who?, and Where?".
    EVALUATION is giving the strengths or weaknesses of something with reasons to make a judgement about something (quality, importance, value, etc.). Evaluation questions usually start with "Why?, and How?"
  • Fake news are news that are presented as a fact but is made for a specific reason. Example: to gain political favour or to persuade people to visit a website.
  • Misinformation are news without harmful intent.
    Disinformation are news with harmful intent.
  • Fake news are often created to deliberately misinform or deceive readers into buying or doing something.
  • Fact checking through R.E.A.L. is a way to ensure that the information you are sharing is accurate and true.

    R - ask, is this REAL?
    E - ask, what EVIDENCE(s) are/is presented? (source, author, publication, dates)
    A - ask, does it all ADD up? (use own knowledge, ask others, research details)
    L - LOOK around, do other sources have the same news? (TV, radio, magazines)
