    • Canary Wharf- Employments rates increased, deprivation has decreased due to regeneration-  area is attractive to elite migrants
    • Old community disappearing to gentrification- Tower Hamlets has sold 70% of council housing since 1981. Lower attachment. Old identity is fading in place for migrants that are re-imaging the area
    • Increasing inequality- South of Canary Wharf is highly deprived, Tower Hamlets ward has the highest child poverty rate in London.
    • New elite migrants are from diverse communities from Asia and mainland Europe
  • How has Poole changed over time?
    • Deindustrialisation- decline of shipbuilding industries, maritime trade, tourism (due to international tourism). Identity has not changed dramatically. Poole Harbour handles imports of containerised goods from the rest of the world. Tourism has a significant impact on the economy.
    • High retiree migration. Educated young graduates leave.
    • Demand to live in Sandbanks after the COVID pandemic ( a rich peninsular pricier than Monaco + New York)
    • Inequalities- Migration to Sand banks have increased living costs for the entire area. Most residents in Poole are not wealthy. Food banks requests increased by 80% in 2022 compared to 2021
