  • The physical landscape of Hong Kong is hilly with little flatland and many offshore islands.
  • The earth is made up of four spheres, including biosphere, atmosphere, lithosphere, and hydrosphere.
    They interact with each other through the flow of matter and energy and results in various specific functions. This is the earth system.
  • Hong Kong is at the Zhu Jiang Delta Area.
  • Internal Processes are responsible for building the landforms while some external processes are responsible for shaping and modifying the landforms.
  • Examples of Internal Processes are folding, faulting, and volcanism; while examples of external processes are weathering, erosion, mass wasting, and deposition.
  • Granite is a type of igneous rock. It is intrusive. It is made up of quartz, mica, and feldspar. Its metamorphic rock is called Gneiss.
  • Rock cycle is the formation, breakdown, and re-formation of rocks as a result of igneous, sedimentary, and metamorphic processes.
  • We can compare characteristics of rocks by its location of formation, forming material, structure, colour, and the presence of fossils.
  • Sedimentation involves five processes: Weathering, Erosion, Deposition, Lithification (Compaction and Cementation).
