William Harvey believed that bloodcirculated around the body and proved arteries, veins and blood vessels were connected. Thought the heart was a pump - influenced by new water pump invented.
Before William Harvey's discovery people thought there was purple blood (nutrition carrying that was made in the liver, flowed through veins and then consumed) and bright red blood (life-giving that was made in the lungs, flowed through arteries and then consumed).
Harvey developed Vesalius' work by dissecting humans and animals to gain a better understanding. Added to his diagrams as well.
