In Scene 1, Faustus is alone in his study reviewing his achievements and decides necromancy is his preferred perspective and summons Valdes and Cornelius to help him conjure spirits
In Scene 1, whilst Faustus is waiting for Valdes and Cornelius, the Good Angel and Evil Angel appear
In Scene 1, the Good Angel advises Faustus to lay aside the "damned book" of magic
In Scene 1, The Evil Angel appeals to Faustus' ambitions and Faustus becomes absorbed in a vision of what he will be able to do by the power of magic
In Scene 1, when Valdes and Cornelius appear, Faustus tells them that he has decided to practice magic because he has found philosophy and divinity to be unsatisfactory
In Scene 1, Valdes assures Faustus that if they work together the whole world will soon be at their feet, Faustus agrees and tells the two men that he plans to conjure that very night
