• Describe the process of tissue culture?

  > Produces large amounts of genetically identical plants

  > Take a plant want to clone and divide it into hundreds of tiny pieces

  > These small groups of cells are then incubated with plant hormones

  > Conditions used must be sterile
• What are the benefits of tissue culture?

  > Used commercially in plant nurseries- gardeners can be certain of the characteristics they will get eg colour

  > Also useful to preserve rare species of plants
