  • 90% of women coted in elections by 1928- by 1932 112 women had been elected in the Reichstag (10%)
  • by 1925 - only 36% of women were in work - 75% during war
  • women were paid 33% less then men for some jobs - unions opposed equal pay
  • women were normally expected to quit their job after marriage
  • few women were in high status professions - in more liberal professions eg education there was more progress
  • there were plenty of part time jobs in shops and offices as the economy grew
  • jobs for single women in cities increased their independence
  • new women -
    • short hair
    • tight cloths
    • revealing cloths
    • sex outside marriage
    • drank alcohol
    • no corset
    • smoke
    • less interested in marriage
  • women were not getting married as early as before and weren't having lots of children
    more women got divorced
