• Mums and babies visited every month for 12 months and again at 18 months
• Mum's asked about child's response to separation in everyday situations
• 25 to 32 weeks of age 50% of babies showed separation anxiety to an adult usually the mother
• attachment forms with the person who was most sensitive to the baby's signals and expressions and not to who they spent the most time with
• 40 weeks - 30% had multiple attachments
