  • Biceps Brachii:
    O: Long head: supraglenoid tubercle of scapula
    Short Head: apex of coracoid process of scapula (along with coracobrachialis)
    R: Downwards (muscle bellies merge mid-humerus)
    I: Posterior aspect of radial tuberosity on radius via flat tendon and bicipital aponeurosis
    A: Elbow flexor, powerful supinator (with flexed elbow), Flexor of Glenohumeral joint (GHJ)
    NS: Musculocutaneous nerve (C5,6,7)
  • Brachialis:
    O: Distal 2/3 of anterior humeral shaft & medial & lateral intermuscular septa
    R: Downwards
    I: Rough triangular brachialis impression inferior to the tuberosity and coronoid process of the ulna, some additional fibres attach to joint capsule
    A: Flexor of elbow
    NS: Musculocutaneous nerve (C5,6,7)
  • Brachioradialis:
    O: Upper 2/3 of the front of the lateral supracondylar ridge and adjacent lateral intermuscular septum
    R: Downwards to form a long narrow tendon mid-forearm
    I: Lateral surface of radius just proximal to the styloid process
    A: Flexor, returns forearm to the mid-position from extremes of pronation and supination
    NS: Radial nerve (C5, 6, 7, 8, T1)
