Film. Also called motion picture, is a series of still photographs on film that are projected in rapid succession onto a screen using light. Film is perhaps the most popular and influential artform in the 20th and 21st centuries because it is an extraordinarily effective medium in presenting drama, particularly in eliciting emotion.
The art of film can be considered complex. It involves the other art (music, dance, theater, interior design) and requires a myriad of technical skills. As such, filmmaking is collaborative art.
It is the “captain” who is responsible for putting together the different elements of film.

Mis-en-scene. A french term meaning “placingonstage,” mis-en-scene is the arrangement of everything that can be seen before the camera. It includes, actors, props, set design, lighting, location, costume, and make-up.
Editing. is the cutting and connecting different shots or pieces of film. It is often called “thekey to cinema” because it is the only element unique to the medium.
Sound. is a powerful aspect, as it actively influences how viewers perceive and make sense of the image.
Film sound can be diegetic or nondiegetic.
Diegetic sound. it include the voice of the characters, the music played in the café, the sound of honking cars, and other sound that originates within the film’s world.
Nondiegetic sound. it include the commentaries of the narrator and film scores.
