  • Contemporary art is produced at the present periodic time, and includes and develops from postmodern art, which itself a successor to modern art.
  • Contemporary Art is made and produced by artists living today. It is produced by people and people are influenced by time. It is a continuing practice that has evolved with the following new elements or principles.
  • Appropriation - The contemporary artist revives interest in existing forms of art. Combining the past and present.
  • Performance - Performance artists have tried to interpret various human activities, such as chores, routines, and rituals, to socially relevant themes, such as poverty and commercialism.
  • Space - Examples of site-specific art forms wherein the art is performed in a particular space.
  • Hybridity - The mixing of unlikely materials to produce an artwork.
  • Technology - A reality in the present-day world and contemporary artists have used technology in the creation and dissemination of work of arts.
  • Modern art - Came before contemporary art and is mostly abstracts. It is more on technique and style and strategies used by artists.
  • Contemporary art - Represents the current times and is typically created by living artists. Regardless of the technique and the strategies, what matters is the message of the artist.
  • Traditional art is mostly focused on realistic figures and is limited to structures and standards set. It is culture-bound.

  • Contemporary art - An offshoot of social realism brought about by martial law. Arts became an expression of people's aspiration for a just, free, and sovereign society.

  • Performing arts - Forms of creative activity that are performed in front of an audience such as drama, music, and dance. Its purpose is to entertain.
  • Dance - consists of purposefully selected consequences of human movement.
