  • A tumour is an abnormal, uncontrollable mass of cells.
  • Benign and malignant are the 2 types of tumours.
  • Benign tumours are contained in one area and do not invade other parts of the body. They are NOT considered cancers
  • Malignant tumours invade neighbouring tissue and spread to other parts of the body.
  • BRCA gene increases the risk of ovarian cancer and breast cancer
  • ultraviolet radiation increases the risk of skin cancer
  • Smoking increases the risk of: mouth, lung, stomach and breast cancer
