  • the adjective “shaven” reveals how exposed the soldiers are, they are innocent and reinforces how they’re indoctrinated by the emperor

  • The metaphor of the fishes represents how the soldiers are indoctrinated by the government
  • the sibilance reinforces that idea as it created an image of chant, bewitching
