Liquid crystal display

• A liquid crystal display (LCD) is a laminated material of 2 layers of glass with a liquid crystal core. It's a thin flat panel that lets light go through when a voltage is applied, or blocks the light when the voltage is switched off
• LCDs are often used in items such as digital watches and flat-screen televisions. Many LCDs work well by themselves when there is other light around but others need a back light (such as for smartphones, computer monitors, and televisions)
