Inspector Goole is like a mouthpiece for JB Priestley because he voices all of Priestleys criticisms and opinions of society
The inspector does not need to be a tall man but he needs to immediately portray a sense of massiveness, solidity and purpousefullness
"One line of inquiry at a time" (Act 1)
The inspector is very articulate in his lines of speech which represent the important messages that JB Preistley was attempting to convey to the audience
"Taught in fire, blood and anguish" (act 3)
"Fire, blood and anguish" has connotations of hell
"Each of you helped to kill her- remember that" (act 3)
"Millions and millions and millions of Eva Smiths and John Smiths" shows that the same thing that happened to Eva Smith is happening to millions of other people in the lower class
