Reflection

Cards (14)

  • Objects that produce their own light are called luminous objects e.g the Sun, fire, tube light, etc.
  • Objects that don't produce their own light are called non-luminous objects e.g the Moon, wood, stones, etc.
  • Transparent objects: are objects that allow light to pass through them and we can see through them
  • Translucent objects: are objects that allow light to pass through them but we can't see through them e.g. bathroom, windows, oiled paper
  • Opaque objects: are objects that don't allow light to pass through them, therefore we can't see through them e.g buildings, stones, etc.
  • A ray is a path followed by light.
  • A beam is a group of rays in a similar direction
  • Incident rays: the ray that approaches the reflecting surface
  • Reflected ray: ray that bounces off the reflecting surface
  • Normal: a line perpendicular to the reflecting surface at the point of incidence
  • Point of incidence: point that the incident ray strikes the reflecting surface
  • Angle of reflection: angle between the incident ray and the normal
  • Angle of reflection: angle between the reflected ray and the normal
  • LAW OF REFLECTION
It states that the angle of incidence is equal to the angle of reflection. i=r
