  The belief the universe was created by God

  • believe the Bible is the literal word of God, therefore the Earth was created in 6 days
  • the creation of the Earth occured less that 10,000 years ago
• Old Earth Creationists (Christian)

  • believe the creation story is metaphorical
  • God created the world millions of years ago
  • the '6 days' of creation refer to long eras of time not 24hr periods
• Liberal Christians

  • tend to believe Genesis is a metaphor (as they seem to contradict eachother)
  • not historical events and should be understood like myths
• God formed Adam from the ground, and Eve from one of Adam's ribs (Genesis 2 story)
• God created the world in 6 days, and on the 7th He rested (Genesis 1 story)
