  • To calculate the actual rate you must find the gradient of your graph at the point you need.
  • to find the gradient trace up from the x-axis to your line and traw a tangent to a curve at that point. Then the gradient = change in y/change in x.
  • This drawing shows how to calculate the gradient. Yellow line Is the tangent. Remember to fully extent the tangent to the Y-Axis. Remember to convert minutes into seconds.
  • To find the rate at an exact point on a reactant's remaining graph, do the same thing as the product graph but remember to draw the tangent below the curve.
