Pathogen

Cards (11)

  • Examples of Bacteria diseases are strap throat, tuberculosis.
  • Examples of virus diseases are covid 19, cold/flu.
  • Direct disease transmission is when a pathogen is transmitted directly from one host to another. e.g: kissing, touching.
  • Airborne disease transmission is when pathogens are spread by airborne particles, such as droplets or aerosols. E.g: coughing, sneezing.
  • Indirect disease transmission is when a vector carries a pathogen from one host to another. E.g: contaminated surfaces, cholera.
  • specific immune responses is recognises and coordinates attacks against specific pathogens.
  • non-specific immune responses is the body's response to a wide variety of antigens.
  • primary immune response is the first response to a pathogen and is immediate and specific.
  • secondary immune response is the response of the immune system to a secondary infection.
  • Cytotoxic cells are involved in directly killing intracellular pathogens and eliminating mutated and cancerous cells.
  • Cell-mediated immunity, unlike humoral immunity, does not rely on antibodies to perform adaptive immunological activities.
