Cross-cultural communication - Communication that takes place between individuals from different cultures, involving understanding caused by misperception, misinterpretation, and misevaluation.
Culture - The set of shared attitudes, values, goals, and practices that characterize an institution or organization, including the set of values, conventions, or social practices associated with a particular field, activity, or societal characteristic.
Language registers - Different styles or varieties of language determined by factors such as the audience, topic, purpose, and location, including static, formal, consultative, casual, and intimate registers.
Critical readers, thinkers, and writers - Individuals who engage intellectually with texts, recognizing that meanings and values are constructed and not inherent, and ask pertinent questions, note significant features, and consider credibility.
Visual literacy - The ability to decode, interpret, create, question, challenge, and evaluate texts that communicate through visual images.
Multimodal texts - Texts that integrate different modes such as visual, auditory, and textual elements to create meaning and convey messages.
