Electrochemical Cells

Cards (7)

  • A graphite rod can be used as the electrode in such half-cells
  • These voltages can be used to arrange the elements into an electrochemical series
  • The metals are attached through bikes, elections down through the wires and less how through the salt bridge
  • Electricity can be produced in cells where at least one of the half-cells does not contain a metal that can donate or receive atoms/ions
  • An electrochemical bell can be produced where two metals are placed in a solution of their own ions and linked with a salt bridge to complete the circuit
  • Other half-cell pairs produce different voltages
  • The further apart the elements are in the electrochemical series, the greater the voltage produced when they are used to make an electrochemical cell
