  • One strength of using structured interviews is that they are easy replicate this is because of their standardised format. The format reduces differences between interviewers. Therefore, the researcher can conduct rich data and note down any unexpected information making it highly reliable
  • one limitation of structured interviews is that the interviewer is limited to what they can ask. This is because of its standardised format therefore, the researcher is only allowed to ask whats on the interview schedule and is limited to any other details.
  • A semi-structured interview has an outline but allows flexibility within the questions asked by the interviewer. It also allows the interviewee to expand upon certain topics which makes it more detailed than a structured interview. However, there may be inconsistencies between different interviewers as they have some freedom with how they word the question or follow up questions.
