• What is corrosion

  The destruction of materials by chemical reactions with substances in the environment
• What does rusting apply to?

  Iron or Iron alloys
• What does rust require?

  Air + Water
• How can what rust requires be proven?

  3 test tube, 1 with water and air, 1 with water and no air and one with only air and no water.Only the 1st tube will rust.Proving rust needs water an air.
• Why is corrosion a problem?

  It damages materials
• How can corrosion be stopped?

  Using a barrier such as grease, paint or electroplating.
• Why doesnt Aluminium corrode?

  It reacts with oxygen to form aluminium oxide which cannot corrode
• What is galvanising?

  Coating a metal in zinc as it is more reactive so the metal below won't be corroded.
• What could you also call galvaninsing?

  Sacrificial protection
