• Summary - capitalism is the root cause of crime. Crime only appears to be committed by the working class due to selective enforcement
• Strength - Shows how lawmaking and enforcement are biased against the working class
• Strength - Shows how poverty and inequality can cause crime
• Weakness - Not all capitalist societies have a high crime rate. Eg Japan whose crime rate is ⅕ of the USA
• Weakness - Over predicts working class crime
• Weakness - Only focuses on class not another inequalities and their relationship with crime
