    Hindus believe that life is a continuous cycle of birth , death and rebirth called samsara
  • What the law of karma means for Hindus
    The law of karma means that whatever Hindus do in this life , there are consequences , positive and negative, in the next life
  • What Hindus Dharma is
    Hindus think it is their dharma or duty to do good deeds without any thought of personal reward
  • Hindu beliefs on the 'Rebirth' section of samsara
    • The body becomes different at rebirth , but the atman remains the same 
    • The transferring of the atman into a different body is called transmigration 
    • The taking on of a new body is called transmigration
  • Hindu's beliefs on a persons aims in life
    • A person's aim or ultimate goal in life is to reach moksha (or salvation) 
    • This is liberation from the cycle of rebirth into union with God (There are different ways in which Hindus understand this)

    • The law of karma means that a person’s actions have consequences 
    • This is sometimes referred to destiny
  • Consequences of good actions
    • If Hindus do good actions , and are kind generous and hard-working , they will gain both inner peace in this life and better reincarnation in the next life 
    • Or they may even reach moksha 
  • Consequences of bad actions
    • If Hindus do good in order to receive rewards, they will never reach moksha 
    • They must do good deeds because it is the right thing to do - it is their dharma (or duty)
  • What meditation and offerings involve
    • Hindus meditate 
    • This involves being still and focusing the mind on God  
    • Hindus also make offerings to their chosen God 
    • This involves praying for selflessness
