Power and Ambition

Cards (1)

  • Power and ambition
    • The idea that too much power leads to corruption - shown through the character of Macbeth, who was originally a noble man, but due to his ambition and need for power, he becomes tyrannical and paranoid. (Shakespeare communicates the allegory that the desire for power is wrong and that people should stay where they are in the natural order)
    • Shows the destruction wrought when ambition goes unchecked by moral constraints (which is shown through the two main characters).
