In eukaryotic cells the cytoplasm is
compartmentalised.
Areas are
separated
from the rest by
single
or
double
membranes.
In eukaryotes there is a
nucleus
which holds the cells
chromosomes.
It has a
double
membrane with
pores
through it.

Ribosomes in eukaryotic cells synthesise
proteins
(as in prokaryotes).
Eukaryotes contain
mitochondria
which is surrounded by a
double
membrane, however the inner membrane is
folded
inwards to
increase
the surface area.
Mitochondria carry out
aerobic
cell respiration.
