• thermistors are tempuature dependent resistors
• in hot conditions, the resistance decreases
• in cool condistions, the resistance increases
• thermistors are used in sensing circuits
• the pd is shared out between the thermistor and loop of fixed resistor and fan according to resistance
• bigger resistance = more pd it takes
• as the room gets hotter the resistanxe of thermistor decreases so more pd goes to the fan and fixed resistor making the fan spin faster
