• Deindustrialization is a decline of industry within a country usually measured by reduction of industry employment
• In the past half century, many urban areas have experienced phenomenon, such as the industrialization. The rise in the service economy and decentralization which have helped change these environments
• Deindustrialization has happened on a mass scale in Western society due to the struggle for industries to compete with cheaper labour and manufacturing costs in countries such as China and Taiwan.
• A service economy is an economy where the dominant source of economic growth is through providing services rather than goods.
