    Oblique head: Tendon of FCR, base of 2nd, 3rd, 4th MCs, trapezoid and capitate
    Transverse head: Anterior surface 3rd MC shaft

    I: Both heads insert into medial side base proximal phalanx of thumb
    A: Thumb adduction and opposition
    NS: Deep branch ulnar nerve (C(7), 8, T1)
  • Opponens Pollicis (Deep): Deep to abductor pollicis brevis
    O: Flexor retinaculum and tubercle of trapezium
    R: Distally
    I: Lateral ½ anterior surface of 1st MC
    A: Opposition
    NS: Recurrent (lateral) branch median nerve (C5-8,T1)
