What is a pathogen ?
microorganisms that cause infectious disease
What can happen when bacteria is inside your body?
bacteria reproduces very quickly every (20 minutes) and releasing toxins
What do toxins do?
they are harmful chemicals that damage tissues and make us feel ill
What are viruses ?
they cannot reproduce by themselves and only reproduce inside a host cell
What happen when there is a virus inside a body?
invades the human cell and then reproduces inside the host cell (damaging the cell)
What can happen when the virus leaves the cell ?
it can cause the cell to burst open and die
How do pathogens spread ?
spread in the air by water droplets (enfluenza)
directly in water (cholera)
direct contact (HIV)
How to reduce the spreading of pathogens ?
washing your hand before eating
providing people with clean drinking water
using condoms during ykw (HIV)
by vaccination
by isolated a person from others (if the have ebola)
