What are the symptoms of measles ?
fever, (after 3 days )red skin rash
What are the complications of measles ?
can cause damage to the braining system and to the brain (can be fatal)
How do you prevent getting measles ?
vaccinations
What are the symptoms of HIV?
a flu-like illness,then a few weeks later the virus is attacking cells of the immune system ,overtime the immune system is severely damaged
What are the complications of HIV?
overtime the immune system cannot fight off other infections
unable to fight off cancer cells
can easily contract other infections
may develop cancer
What is antiretroviral drug ?
it stops the virus from multiplying inside the patient so the virus does not damage the immune system
How can HIV be treated?
taking antiretoviral drugs
Disadvantage of antiretroviral drugs ?
they are not a cure for HIV or AIDS,the patient must take these drugs for the rest of their life
How is HIV spread ?
by unprotected sexual intercourse or when drug users share infected needles (blood needles aswell)
