  • What are the symptoms of HIV?
    a flu-like illness,then a few weeks later the virus is attacking cells of the immune system ,overtime the immune system is severely damaged
  • What are the complications of HIV?
    overtime the immune system cannot fight off other infections
    unable to fight off cancer cells
    can easily contract other infections
    may develop cancer
  • What is antiretroviral drug ?
    it stops the virus from multiplying inside the patient so the virus does not damage the immune system
  • How can HIV be treated?
    taking antiretoviral drugs
  • Disadvantage of antiretroviral drugs ?
    they are not a cure for HIV or AIDS,the patient must take these drugs for the rest of their life
  • How is HIV spread ?
    by unprotected sexual intercourse or when drug users share infected needles (blood needles aswell)
