Ligaments

• Small Joints of Hand - 1st Carpometacarpal Joint - Ligaments:

  • Radial carpometacarpal ligament
  • Anterior oblique ligament
  • Posterior oblique ligament
• • posterior and anterior oblique ligaments have same origin (only difference is anterior/posterior side) and have same insertion as they merge
  • all 3 carpometacarpal ligaments (anterior oblique, posterior oblique, radial carpometacarpal) originate and insert into same bones (radial carpometacarpal doesn't have origin/insertion)
• • anterior and posterior oblique ligaments insert into medial aspect of 1st metacarpal
  • radial carpometacarpal ligament inserts into lateral aspect of 1st metacarpal
