  Oxygen= 21%

  Carbon dioxide= 0.03%

  Argon= 1%
• Oxygen gas is the ACTIVE part of air because it takes part in most chemical reaction especially combustion
• COMBUSTION: This is the burning of a substance in air (oxygen)
• Oxygen gas:

  • It is a diatomic molecule
  • Colorless
  • Odorless
  • Supports combustion
• Oxygen gas is prepared by decomposition of hydrogen peroxide (H2O24) using Manganese dioxide (MnO2) as a catalyst
• CATALYST: A substance that speeds up the rate of a chemical reaction without itself being used up
