  • How do vaccination work ?
    introducing small quantities of dead or inactive forms of pathogens
  • What is a key fact of vaccination?
    since the pathogen is dead/inactive it cannot lead to a disease
  • What do the white blood cells do when when the person is vaccinated ?
    they stimulate to produce antibodies against the dead/inactive pathogen,also the white blood cells divides by mitosis to produce lots of copies of itself
  • What happens to the copies of the white blood cells ?
    they can stay in the blood for decades ,so if the same pathogen enter the body many years late the whit blood cells can produce the correct antibodies quickly
  • What is heard immunity ?
    when a large part of the population of an area is immune to a specific disease
