AO3 - Bowlbys Monotropic theory

• The monotropic theory has many real life applications for example , it has been influential in the improvement of child care services.
• Some of the research support of Bowlby's monotropic theory comes from research with non human animals. eg Lorenz , Harlow
• Using research with non- human animals makes it harder to generalise the results to humans due to evolutionary discontinuity.
• Harlow found that baby monkeys went to the cloth surrogate mother ( with no food ) rather than a wire mother (with food) when they were scared suggesting sensitivity not food is important in attachments.
• Harlows research supports this theory.
