  • Charles Babbage (26 December 1791 – 18 October 1871) was a mathematician and computer scientist. He was the first person who created a mechanical computer in london. He created the first computer in 1833 and 1871.
  • Industrial revolution is the period of history when there was a large change with those things.  In the 18th century, the Industrial revolution started in Great Britain. 
  • The Abacus was a tool used for maths for adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing. It was used instead of a computer. In 2500 BCE, Abacus were invented in Mesopotamia. 
  • Richard Brathwait was an English poet. In 1613, his book The Yong Mans Gleanings had the word “computer”. The computer’s name became computer because  it means to calculate, to count, to think. 
  • Ada Lovelace was an English mathematician and writer.  Most women in the 1800s did not study science and maths. Ada Lovelace was good at them and she was the first computer programmer who had ideas before the computer was invented. She met Charles Babbage on June 5 1833, she was just 17 years old and she told him about programming.
  • The different engine is an automatic mechanical device. Its design is a calculator. It was created by Charles Babbage in 1820. They made the different engine because they tried to make a more economical mechanical calculator.
  • The Analytical Engine was a general purpose computer. Analytical Engine was to be fully programming control, an auto mechanical digital computer. This was invented in 1837 by Charles Babbage.
  • Gottfried Wilhelm von Leibniz is a scientist who created the step Reckoner in around 1642. The step Reckoner is a calculator machine for calculating things. It can multiply, addition, subtraction, and division.
