    • going down the group, halogens have a higher boiling and melting point
    • halogens can form simple molecular compounds by covalent bonding
    • halogens can form ionic compounds with metals as they will gain an electron and have ionic structures
    • a displacement reaction can occur between the more reactive halogen and the salt of the less reactive one
