  • Omnipotence - The belief that God is all-powerful.
  • Omnibenevolence - The belief that God is all-loving.
  • Imago Dei -The image of God. The belief that humans share something of God's nature. Catholics believe that people have souls which separates them from any other living species.
  • Divine Command Theory - The belief that things are right because God commands them to be.
  • Agape - Unconditional, selfless love. It is the highest form of Christian love epitomised by Jesus's sacrifice on the cross, and teachings such as 'Love your neighbour'.
  • Trinity - The belief that God is three persons in one: God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit.
  • Incarnation - The belief that Jesus is God made flesh.
  • Inter-Faith Dialogue - People of different faiths coming together to better understand each other and to serve the wider community with a mutual respect that allows them to live peacefully alongside each other, despite of differences.
  • Atonement - The belief that Jesus died to save us from sin and reconcile us with God. He opened the way for God and humanity to be 'at one' again.
  • Resurrection - The belief that Jesus rose from the dead on the third day from when he was crucified, thereby conquering death.
  • Mass - The celebration of the Eucharist. It is the most important act of worship for Catholics, in which Jesus is truly present in the form of bread and wine.
  • Sacrament - An outward sign of inward grace, ordained by Jesus Christ, by which grace is given to the soul. The seven sacraments are: Baptism, Reconciliation, Holy Communion, Confirmation, Marriage, Holy Orders, Anointing of the Sick.
