Uses of plant hormones

• Auxin is used as a rooting hormone in gardening to encourage the formation of roots in cuttings.
• Auxin is used as a selective weed killer, which targets broad-leaved weeds by disrupting weed growth without harming narrow-leaved crops for optimal crop yields.
• Auxins as root powders are used to promote root development in cuttings and used in tissue culture to clone desirable plants.
• Ethene is used in the food industry to control food ripening during storage. Ethene inhbits and delays the ripening enzymes, which is effective in transporting unripe fruit.
• Gibberellins are used to end seed dormancy, promote germination, induce flowering irrespective to weather conditions and increase fruit size.
